Privacy

ToolOrHype is a catalog of tools we review in short videos. This page explains what the site measures and why. The publisher is identified in the legal notice.

What we do not do

  • No cookies and nothing stored on your device.
  • No account, no advertising trackers, no fingerprinting.
  • We do not store your IP address.

What we measure

  • The pages you open on this site and the searches you type in the catalog.
  • Your clicks on the buttons that open a tool's website.
  • The link you came from: which platform (for example TikTok or Instagram) and which video, when the link says so, plus a random visit identifier carried in the links of the page.
  • Your country as estimated by our host from your connection, the kind of browser (the in-app browser of a social app or a regular browser), and whether the request looks automated.

We use this to learn which videos and tools are useful to you and to measure our affiliate links. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). We keep these records for up to 13 months, then delete or aggregate them.

When you leave for a tool's website

The "Open" button sends you to the tool's website, sometimes through an affiliate network. We add a random click identifier to that link so the partner can tell us that a sign-up happened, without telling us who you are. These websites and networks have their own privacy policies and may use cookies.

Our providers

The site and its database are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which may process data outside the European Union under its data processing terms, including standard contractual clauses. Emails sent to hello@toolorhype.com are forwarded to our mailbox and kept as long as needed to answer you.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete data about you, or object to its use, by writing to hello@toolorhype.com. Because we do not store identifiers tied to you, we usually cannot link these records to a person. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in France, the CNIL.
